It is time to get out and explore your own back yard! To
make it more affordable Polar Caves Park is offering all
New Hampshire and Vermont residents $5.00 admission
for the week of Sept. 12-18.
“Polar Caves has a long history of supporting local causes
through donations and volunteer work. Now we want to
give more during these trying financial times.” stated
Robert Arey, General Manager “ It has been a few years
since we last offered a resident’s discount, so this year
instead of just one day we thought we would offer it for a
whole week, just to make sure we can fit into everyone’s
schedule.” This is the first year that Polar Caves is
offering Vermont residents the same special. “We are
pretty close to the I-91 corridor, so we thought why not
offer something to our neighbors to the west.” Mr. Arey
said.
Polar Caves Park opened to the public in 1922 and has
been a favorite destination for people looking to explore
one of Mother Nature’s natural wonders. The caves were
formed when the continental glacier passed over New
Hampshire depositing granite boulders at the base of
Hawk’s Cliff. Over the centuries the caves have been used
by Indian Tribes for protection and ceremonies, used to
help smuggle slaves north as part of the Underground
Railroad, and by local farmers who used the caves as a
natural refrigerator.
Today, Polar Caves Park features 8 glacial caves, a family
of friendly fallow deer, many kinds of birds, a mining
sluice, the Klondike mines, a Maple Sugarhouse and
Museum, plus much more. Normal admission is $14.00
for ages 10 plus and $10.00 for ages 4-9.
